Directors Kristi Jacobson and Lori Silverbush feel we need to know something here in the United States of America: one in four children — 50 million people — have no idea where or how they will get their next meal. Their new film, A Place at the Table, talks to three people: Barbie, a mother trying to do better life for her kids; Rosie, a fifth-grader who depends on others for food; and Tremonica, an asthmatic second-grader.

Also appearing are: sociologist Janet Poppendieck, author Raj Patel, nutrition policy leader Marion Nestle, Pastor Bob Wilson, teachers Leslie Nichols and Odessa Cherry, Witness to Hunger’s Mariana Chilton, chef Tom Colicchio, and actor Jeff Bridges.
