Duff Goldman: DecoPac Kits

Does Food Network celebrity translate into selling power to professional chefs as well as fans?

Paula Deen, Rachael Ray, Alton Brown, and Tyler Florence all sell products to their fans. But few celebrity chefs translate their fame into selling products to other professional chefs.

DecoPac, the world’s leading wholesale cake decorating supplier signed up the Food Network’s Duff Goldman to collaborate on a professional cake decorating product line. The company’s press release quotes Duff:

I’ve been looking for a way to help professional cake decorators express their creativity and inspire them to define their own style. This partnership with DecoPac is a great opportunity to do this on a big scale by introducing new tools and a new way of thinking about cakes to thousands of bakeries.

Comparing sales to thousands of bakeries and potentially additional culinary students, is perhaps a fraction of the size of the market of non-professionals, and yet, it is a market under-exploited by celebrity chefs.

Duff’s new kits, available in February, include: Inspiration Kids with tools to make cakes like Rockstar, Bubbles and Lovely Lady”, Creative Kits with art supplies, and Fondant Starter Kits, and Color Gel Paste Tubes. Duff also has consumer product like the Girl Gourmet Cake Bakery.
