Bayona‘s Susan Spicer has drafted a letter with the Gulf Restoration Network to President Obama and members of Congress urging support for efforts to protect and restore the Gulf in the wake of the BP drilling disaster.

This is of vital importance to the people of the Gulf of Mexico, especially chefs and restaurateurs. More needs to be done to solve the environmental challenges facing the area.

Dear [Decision Maker],

We, the undersigned chefs, strongly urge the administration and Congress to support efforts to protect and restore the Gulf of Mexico in the wake of the BP drilling disaster. Please act now to implement the reasoned recommendations of the National Commission on the BP Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill and Offshore Drilling. Particularly we urge you to champion provisions to form a Gulf of Mexico Regional Citizens’ Advisory Council and to direct BP’s Clean Water Act fines and penalties to the Gulf region for habitat restoration, both in coastal areas and the deepwater….
