Six Chefs for Singapore

Ever since Las Vegas started drawing celebrity chefs with major deals, journalists, foodies, and the chefs themselves, are on the look out for the next Las Vegas – the kind of place people go to spend money. Super Chef has written about the Gulf Coast (see Emeril Goes Gulf Coast ) and Fooxwoods (see Foxwoods: Michael Schlow Trophy).

What is the next hot spot?

How about Singapore?

The new $5.5 billion Marina Bay Sands now under construction will house six celebrity chefs: Daniel Boulud, Mario Batali, Wolfgang Puck, Guy Savoy, Santi Santamaria, and Tetsuya Wakuda. Las Vegas Sands Corp. is developing the project that will include three 55-floor hotel towers (which look eirily like Three Mile Island nuclear plant) connected by a 1,200-foot-long (365-metre-long) platform on top with a giant rooftop swimming pool and observation deck. Here is the description from their website:

Three cascading hotel towers topped by an extraordinary sky park, ‘floating’ crystal pavilions, a lotus-inspired Museum, retail stores featuring cutting-edge labels and international luxury brands, trendy Celebrity Chef restaurants, endless entertainment at the theatres, the hottest night clubs and a Las Vegas-style casino.

Better hope these chefs stay trendy.

If Asia is really getting out of its economic slump, then timing for perfect for this new Las Vegas East.
