Slow Food USA: Better School Food!

Chefs like Jamie Oliver, Alice Waters, Dominique Valadier, and Christopher Kimball have begun to make a difference, but there is still so much more to be done to make sure that every child has access to healthy food for lunch in school.

Super Chef received an email appeal from Slow Food USA‘s Josh Viertel asking for help to mobilize supporters in a letter writing campaign to Congress. ” You can be part of our next one. Congress isn’t planning to make progress on child nutrition programs until the beginning of next year. We have until then to show our leaders that kids and parents across America are hungry for change.” The idea is to have kids and parents write letters to legislative district offices about the importance of good school food. You can also sign a petition. There are lesson plans, sample letters by kids and plenty more on the Slow Food website. Click here to find out more and get involved.
