H. L. Mencken once said, “I give you Chicago. It is not London and Harvard. It is not Paris and buttermilk. It is American in every chitling and sparerib. It is alive from snout to tail.”
Food city that it is, it claims every chef it can.
The March of Dimes Signature Chefs Auction of Chicago is honoring White House Executive Chef Cristeta Comerford with the second annual Chicago Chef of the Year Award.
Is Cris from Chicago?
She started her career in two Chicago hotels and she works for a president who started his political career in the Windy City:
As the recipient of the 2010 award, Chef Comerford is being honored for her commitment to culinary arts; dedication to the environment, the farming industry, healthy eating, and an eco-friendly lifestyle. Accomplishments include bringing nationwide attention to healthy eating and reducing childhood obesity.
The first recipient was Rick Bayless. Some 25 other local chefs for the fundraiser will join her on the evening on November 3 to celebrate.
Congratulations to Chef Cris.
