A good meal in a restaurant (or at home) can lift spirits and help us go on with our lives. The USO‘s mission is to lift the spirits of America’s armed forces and their families. Founded in 1941, the United Service Organization formed by President Franklin D. Roosevelt, it continues to bring cheer to troops on the front line and at home.
B. Smith is hosting a celebration of the 25th Anniversary of her New York restaurant and the 70th anniversary of the USO. On November 14th the restaurant will have hors d’oeurves, cocktails, and entertainment for a crowd wearing Red, White & Blue.
Since the opening of the first USO in Times Square in 1941, New York has been visited by more U.S. service members than any other major city in the world. Today, we honor the troops and families whose sacrifice upholds the values we hold true as Americans. Our story is one of honor, patriotism, of duty and dedication. It stands in recognition of those who serve and protect us and our freedom. It is now, and always will be, about our troops and their families.
