National Pi Day: Pie It Forward

Gesine Bullock-Prado

Are your kids celebrating National Pi Day, March 14, by memorizing as many numbers in Pi as they can (remember 3.14159265…)?

They might enjoy the challenge better if you combine it with Pie It Forward Day. It’s a fun gimmick thought up by Gesine Bullock-Prado to promote her book, suitably called Pie It Forward (Stewart, Tabori & Chang 2012).

Pie It Forward, by Gesine Bullock-PradoHere are the rules from the Pie It Forward website:

Step 1: Download Gesine Bullock-Prado’s delectable WILD BLUEBERRY PIE recipe from her upcoming new book, PIE IT FORWARD.

Step 2: Bake—stretch your floured limbs!

Step 3: Now PIE IT FORWARD. Deliver the pie to a friend. Pass along the recipe and share a day of baking. /blockquote>

The idea is the kids get to make pie and share pie and pi and learn some fun and important kitchen basics. They also will learn how fun it is to share both knowledge and a yummy dessert.

Pie It Forward!
