Paula Deen and Nanco Group announced that they are creating Paula Deen Foods, which will market Deen inspired prepared foods in retailers and grocers around the country. The Nanola Family, who have been active in supermarkets, owns Nanco Group. According to the press release, Paula says:
Working with Nanco, we have generations of experience and knowledge from our most important partners – the grocery retailers that will enable us to bring the best value possible to those who love our recipes.
The question is, will Nanco also bring healthy food to customers or just reproduce some of Paula’s more fat and sugar-laden creations? And why choose a company firmly entrenched in the Northeast when Paula’s food is so definitely Southern? We won’t have long to wait: the first products are due on grocery shelves in late third quarter 2012. Get ready for even more obesity.
