You know those comic sketches in which a comedian creates a composite image of the offspring of an unlikely pair?

How would that work in the food world?

Imagine Wolfgang Puck and Sandra Lee or Todd English and Lydia Shire or Nigella Lawson and Anthony Bourdain -– for that last one, you’ll have to wait a few months for their new TV competitive cooking show on ABC.

Super Chef‘s immediate questions on hearing the news are:

• Aren’t there enough reality TV competitive cooking shows out there?
• Aren’t these two hosts interested in teaching people how to real cook – not just play at cooking on TV?
• Are these two hosts really so different?

They both emphasize sex – one more directly, or even vulgarly, and the other in innuendo.

They both seem to care about eating well – whether or not that means eating healthy, too.

Both have been judges on other cooking shows – so they know, one hopes, what works and what doesn’t – and how to bring a little something different to this over exploited genre.
