James Beard was no stranger to Food TV, so it makes sense that The James Beard Foundation‘s Chefs & Champagne New York is honoring Ted Allen and the Judges of the his Food Network show Chopped. The annual event at the Wölffer Estate Vineyard in Sagaponack, Long Island on Saturday, July 21st features Champagne Nicolas Feuillatte and tasting from more than 30 celebrity chefs.
Ted has a new book out from Clarkson Potter, In My Kitchen, so, in a way this is a glorified book party – lucky him! But, this is also a fundraiser. According to the press release:
Chefs & Champagne® New York is considered the East End’s premiere culinary event. Funds raised at the event will help to support the James Beard Foundation’s mission and programs. A silent auction consisting of fine dining experiences, wines and spirits, cookware and culinary travel packages will also raise funds for the culinary arts organization. The 2012 recipient of the Christian Wölffer Scholarship for wine and food studies will also be announced.
