The Washington Post may be all a buzz with Jamie Oliver and his bid to change America’s eating habits, but London has moved on to the next big thing: celebrity chef cooking apps. The hot app of the moment belongs to Nigella Lawson. Nigella’s Quick Collection was launched this week and quickly climbed to the top of the iTunes charts, pushing Jamie Oliver’s app, 20 Minute Meals to the fourth position, according to The Guardian, which reported that the app world is likely to see more action from Gordon Ramsay.
Why are these so hot among British chefs?
The answer come from William Sitwell, editor of Waitrose Magazine:
It’s a way to reach individuals and give them stuff that is really useful while at the same time encouraging them to buy into the other stuff they are selling, from kitchenware to recipe books.
Cooking apps feature recipes that generate shopping lists and videos to help with the tricky parts.
Still, who could be hotter than the Foodie world’s true food porn queen?
